Twe began with a simple idea: what if you could keep a tiny piece of somewhere you love?
I’ve always been drawn to the little things you might otherwise walk straight past — a piece of sea glass softened by the tide, a tiny shell, a weathered pebble, wildflowers growing along a coastal path.
Living in St Ives, Cornwall, I’m surrounded by them.
The coastline here is full of colour, texture and tiny treasures. The tide rearranges them constantly, leaving little fragments of the landscape behind on the sand and shoreline. Those small discoveries are where Twe begins.
Made by hand, inspired by the coast
Every piece of Salty Twe jewellery is individually made in St Ives.
I work with materials including genuine sea glass, Cornish sand, shells, polymer clay, resin, pressed flowers, gold leaf and hand-formed wire. Some pieces are carefully shaped and layered; others begin with something the sea has already created.
I don't want everything to look perfectly identical.
The tiny variations in a piece of sea glass, the shape of a shell, the way colours move through resin or the natural differences in a pressed flower are all part of what makes handmade jewellery special.
You won't always get something perfectly uniform. You'll get something that's yours.
Inspired by real places
Many Salty Twe pieces are connected to somewhere along the Cornish coast.
Porthkidney. Porthmeor. Gwithian. Marazion.
Places I've walked, noticed, collected inspiration from and returned to.
Sometimes it's the colour of the sea. Sometimes it's the way the tide leaves bands of shells and sand behind. Sometimes it's simply a tiny thing I've spotted on the beach that I couldn't stop thinking about.
The jewellery isn't meant to recreate the coastline exactly.
It's about capturing a feeling of it.
